Apprenticeships work, both as a viable alternative to Sixth Form or College but also for University Degrees and Continuing Professional Development for staff, as they offer nationally recognised qualifications alongside real industry experience – something which can’t be taught in a classroom.
Heart of England Training has over 45 years’ experience in delivering apprenticeship training in levels 2-5 across a variety of subjects, including Business Administration, Customer Service, Digital Marketing, IT, Project Management, Teaching Assistant and more.
Our apprenticeships are suitable for all ages, from school leavers looking to take the first steps towards their chosen career paths right through to senior level managers wanting to enhance their existing skill set and keep up to date with the latest industry developments and best practice.
The theme for this years’ National Apprenticeship Week is ‘Blaze a Trial’ we caught up with two of our alumni, Kayleigh Hubbard, a Trainee Assessor based at Julian’s Salon and volunteer assistant trainer at Leicester College and Isabel Twombley a Trainer Assessor for H2O Hair Salon and Heart of England Training as well as being a member of the GHD Style Squad.
Kayleigh and Isabel both completed their Level 3 apprenticeships with Heart of England Training before coming back years later to get their Certificates in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) as they both felt the need to give something back to the industry and wanted to help train future apprentices.
Isabel and Kayleigh are both working towards their Level 3 Award in Education & Training with Heart of England Training, we caught up with them after their day course on different learning styles to find out more about what motivated them to become assessors…
“I have done all my training with Heart of England since I was 17 and I really felt the need to give something back, I am looking forward to completing my Level 3 award, it’s something I am passionate about and I am looking forward to putting the theory into practice when training up the next generation of apprentices.”
Isabel added: “After completing my apprenticeship with Heart of England Training I have had some fantastic opportunities, most notably becoming a member of the GHD style squad which means I attend GHD shoots, promotion events and get training from the likes of Zoe Irwin on the latest trends and GHD styles. This then led me to almost go full circle and become an Assessor and I’m enjoying supporting our hairdressing learners on their own apprenticeship journeys.”
