Are you unsure on how to get the most from your Sport Premium? An apprenticeship could be the answer…
John Southall, pictured, successfully completed his Level 3 Physical Education in School Sport apprenticeship with us yesterday at Rushey Meade Primary School in Leicestershire.
As part of his qualification, John’s final assignment was to plan and deliver a sports based event at his school. John organised a parents vs children cricket tournament for the Leicester based primary school which ended in a closely fought draw! Event feedback was really positive, with many of the participants asking for the tournament to be turned into a regular fixture!
John achieved his qualification just after the Department for Education announced that the Primary PE and Sport Premium will continue at the doubled rate for the 2019/20 academic year. The Youth Sports Trust and Association for Physical Education welcomed the recent DfE announcement but have highlighted concerns around the collective £320m not being used to create a sustainable PE and School Sport legacy for UK primary schools and academies.
Schools that access funds from the sports premium are required to report on their PE and Sport Premium spending to include publishing the amount they received, how it was spent, the impact it had on sport provision and also plans for future sustainability.
