Are there any entry requirements?
Yes, you will need to hold a level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) in the area you wish to assess in. You should also have sufficient post qualification experience that is relevant, current and appropriate to the area you would like to assess in and hold or acheive a Level 1 in English.
How is this award delivered?
The award is delivered through three full day workshops over three months. In addition to this you will receive six hours of teaching from the assessor and 6 hours from your designated mentor.
The course covers the following elements –
An overview of NVQ/QCFs
- The role of the assessor
- Assessment methods
- Planning for assessment
- Recording assessment decisions
- Feedback techniques
- Appeals and complaints – process and procedures
- Quality assurance
The three units you will be collecting evidence on are:
- Understanding the principles and practices of assessment
- Assess occupational competence in the work environment
- Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding
In between your workshops you’ll produce a portfolio of evidence with the on-going support of your assessor. This will involve your assessor observing you working with your candidates in the workplace.

All candidates will be contacted by Gemma Saunders to discuss their application. They must then attend a training centre to sit an Initial Assessment, level 1 in English must be achieved to be successful in your application.
The course fees of £600 can be paid in instalments but at least £200 must be received at least 2 weeks prior to the course start date to secure your booking.
You must attend all three advertised dates to complete your qualification.
