Let’s be clear.. you CAN leave school at 16 and join one of our courses or apprenticeships.

Due to popular demand we are pleased to be able to offer Level 2 Barbering.

Male grooming is now a multi billion pound worldwide industry, this is reflected both in the number of new barber shops opening up and the number of hairdressing salons now offering traditional barbering services to their clients.

Your expected starting salary (once qualified) £12,000 – £16,000

Options and pay

The apprenticeship in Business administration is usually full time employed with a local employer.

Will I get paid?

Employed apprentices will be paid a minimum rate of £3.50 per hour (often more). Apprenticeship wage accurate as of 1st  April 2017.

Your Barbering apprenticeship is enhanced by two ‘excellence in barbering skills’ day courses at no extra charge.*

Employers wanting to take on a barbering apprentice must have suitable barbering resources and a professional barber’s environment and equipment, including barber’s chair to undertake this qualification.

Heart of England Training also offer a wide range of ‘Every learner matters‘ sessions, trips and workshops to support your needs.

Intermediate Apprenticeship
  • Learning while you are employed full time
  • A level 2 Diploma or Certificate in Barbering, Level 2 Certificate in Barbering Knowledge and Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths and English
  • A programme lasting a minimum of 1 year (366 days) with the option to extend to suit your own learning pace

You will cover seven mandatory unit plus a choice of two optional units to complete your QCF (NVQ).

Mandatory units:

  • Work effectively in your barbering team
  • Advise and consult with clients
  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp
  • Develop and maintain effectiveness at work
  • Cut men’s hair using basic techniques
  • Cut facial hair to shape using basic techniques
  • Dry and finish men’s hair
  • Create basic outlines and detailing in hair
    Examples of optional units:
  • Perm and neutralise hair
  • Fulfil salon reception duties
  • Assist with shaving services
  • Colour and lighten men’s hair
