Employer Services - Salons
Apprenticeships are changing. They are no longer only seen as a career step for young people. More and more salons are looking to apprenticeships as a way to invest in their existing staff to deliver cost effective training whilst bringing real results to their business. When you sign up an existing member of staff on an Hairdressing apprenticeship with us, we will offer one day’s free training for any member of staff to attend one of our Bespoke Hairdressing Education Day Courses, subjects include Classic and Advanced Cutting, Classic Foils and The Science of Hair.

What about funding?
The way apprenticeships are funded has changed. If you choose to take on an apprentice aged 16-18 (or up to 24 if they hold an EHCP) you will receive £1000 from the government towards their training which will be paid in two installments, one on day 90 and one on day 365 of training. If you recruit an apprentice, or enrol a current staff member aged 19 or over, you will now need to contribute 10% towards their training costs. This is currently £300 for Hairdressing L2 /L3 and Barbering L2 and £200 for Beauty Therapy L2 and £250 for L3. The cost can be spread across three payments. Apprentices, regardless of age will be paid the apprenticeship minimum wage of £3.50ph for the first year, and you do not need to make any NI contributions.
