Nail Services Apprenticeship

Let’s be clear.. you CAN leave school at 16 and join one of our courses or apprenticeships.

This is a market that has been rapidly growing in the past two years.

This qualification will test your skills in cleaning, decorating, extending and pampering nails. The average salary once qualified is £15,000.

Advanced Apprenticeship
  • Learning while you are employed full time
  • A level 3 NVQ/QCF in Nail Services and Functional Skills in Maths and English
  • Learning day relase in a HOET training centre or a having an assessor come out and visit you in your place of work
  • A programme lasting 12 months

You will cover the following QCF/NVQ units in your apprenticeship

  • Enhance and maintain nails using UV gel
  • Enhance and maintain nails using liquid and powder
  • Monitor procedures to safely control work operations

Examples of optional units

  • Plan and create nail art designs
  • Plan and provide airbrush design for nails
  • Enhance and maintain nail using wraps

Intermediate Apprenticeship
  • Learning while you are employed full time
  • A level 2 QCF/NVQ in Nail Services and Functional Skills in Maths and English
  • Learning on ‘day release’ at a HOET centre
  • A programme lasting up to 12 months. However you can work at your own pace and finish sooner

You will cover all of the following QCF/NVQ units in your apprenticeship:

  • Provide manicure treatments
  • Provide pedicure treatments
  • Provide nail art
  • Follow health and safety practice in salon
  • Client care and communication in beauty related industries
  • Working in beauty related industries

Options and pay

The apprenticeship in Nail Services is usually full time employed with a local employer.

Will I get paid?

Employed apprentices will be paid a minimum rate of £3.50 per hour (often more). Apprenticeship wage accurate as of 1st April 2017.
