Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools Apprenticeship

Let’s be clear.. you CAN leave school at 16 and join one of our courses or apprenticeships.

This is more commonly known as the ‘Teaching/Classroom Assistant’ Apprenticeship and can be done and both Level 2 (Intermediate) and Level 3 (Advanced) Apprenticeships.

Intermediate Apprenticeships

What is involved in this apprenticeship?

  • The Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship can be the great start to your teaching career. If you love to help others and have the will to want to make your learners better then this is the apprenticeship for you!
  • You will be employed at a local school and working full time in a class room assisting the class teacher. Hosting after school clubs, helping with teaching demonstrations and administrating school trips can all be part of your role. There is a massive amount of progression opportunities with this apprenticeship
  • You may need to improve your Maths, English and IT by completing Functional Skills

How long will it take me to complete this apprenticeship?

The average length of stay is between 12-18 months. However this can be tailored to suit your needs.

Where will I train?

You will train in your workplace and be visited by one of our assessors once every two weeks.

Advanced Apprenticeships

What is involved in this apprenticeship?

  • The Teaching Assistant Advanced Apprenticeship is  ideal if you already have significant experience as a school support worker and wish to move into a more specialised role – in areas including administration, learning support and management.
  • You will be employed at a local school and working full time in a class room assisting the class teacher. Hosting after school clubs, helping with teaching demonstrations and administrating school trips can all be part of your role. There is a massive amount of progression opportunities with this apprenticeship
  • You may need to improve your Maths, English and IT by completing Functional Skills

How long will it take me to complete this apprenticeship?

Options and pay

The apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools is usually full time employed with a local school.

Will I get paid?

Employed apprentices will be paid a minimum rate of £3.50 per hour (often more). Apprenticeship wage accurate as of 1st April 2017.
